Kssour Agafay (Palace Agafay) is situated in the fascinating medina of the increasingly hip city of Marrakech. It is the first private member’s club to open its doors in this mysterious city. Catering to a bohemian crowd of international travellers, PR people, journalists, artists, decision makers, well known personalities and colourful local residents, the Kssour is set to become the centre of a melting pot of amazing cultures and people. Located in the heart of Marrakech and spread over three floors, the club is a place to experience fascinating, superb, world class cultural events and performances in unique surroundings and of course it is THE place in Marrakech to meet friends, enjoy cocktails and dine on delicious authentic Moroccan and world cuisine. Built in the late 15th century, the Kssour was originally an aristocratic residence owned by a noble Moroccan family, but which later fell into disrepair. The property was purchased in 1997 by British-Moroccan entrepreneur, Abel Damoussi, owner of the magnificent luxury hotel Kasbah Agafay (Marrakech), and has since been painstakingly restored to its former glory by a team of up to 100 expert local craftsmen. The restoration work took place over a period of over two years and was completed in August 2004.
Accommodation
Kssour Agafay is the only riad in the medina to boast a stunning courtyard on the first floor of the building. The club also boasts two large airy salons house the cosy dining room and a sumptuous sitting room. In addition six luxurious, individually designed rooms can be booked by members for their ‘home’ in Marrakech. There are 5 double rooms and 1 twin room but all can be converted into twin rooms if required. Each has been restored using original 15th century features and many have a local theme. The Tadelakt ensuite bathrooms are designed blend harmoniously with the decoration of each bedroom. Be you a couple staying in one room or a group renting the entire riad for a private gathering, all guests are made to feel entirely ‘at home in Marrakech’
The Koutoubia Suite
It has a wonderful view of the famous Koutoubia mosque.It is situated in the terrace and is the only room with a private Veranda terrace. This suite has a separate dressing area and an en-suite bathroom.
The Treasure Suite
is located in the terrace as well and has 2 separate bedrooms.
Treasure 1: is a double room with separate bathroom. The suite is elegantly decorated with original Moroccan art crafts.
Treasure 2: with a twin bed and an ensuite bathroom and has a colourful Moroccan wooden ceiling.
There is also the possibility of renting only one room of the suite.
The Lime Room:
is located in the terrace as well which has a wonderful view of the old medina and the snow-capped Atlas mountains. It has an en-suite bathroom made of green Tadelakt.
The Riad Suite
is located in the first floor and has 2 separate rooms :
Riad 1: It has a very special design that reminds you of the authentic Moroccan bedrooms with its long shape architecture and its traditional Moroccan wooden ceiling.
Riad 2 : is overlooking patio and its fountain giving you rhythmical sound of music. It has a separate bathroom that you can reach by going down some magical stairs. a separate bathroom made of natural Tadelakt.
All the rooms are equipped with an air conditioning and heating and each room has a hair dryer, a telephone and adapter for internet access. All the bathrooms have bath tub and shower. Flowers, seasonal fruits_ mineral water and dried fruits are among the amenities provided in each room on arrival.
Facilities and Services
Dinning
There are two Moroccan salons as well as a beautiful open air patio but guests are free to choose where they prefer to dine. You can also enjoy your meals at the terrace which overlooks the snow-capped atlas mountains and the old medina.
Bar Fumoir
Guests can have their drinks at the bar while enjoying the art exhibitions held there. You also can enjoy a Montecristo cigar or one of the different kind of cigars available at the bar.
Library
Where guests can learn a lot about the culture and history of Morocco while listening to the spiritual music played at the property. We encourage our members to donate books that they may have either written, translated or published so we can build a unique library particular to Kssour Agafay.
