Accommodation
Mbweni offers thirteen air-conditioned suites, each furnished in distinctive Zanzibari style. Each suite has easy access to the swimming pool and secluded beach and has a balcony overlooking the sea. The Baobab Suite is perfect for honeymoons, and for that extra special treat. This spacious suite, complete with king-sized fourposter bed, has its own rooftop terrace with spectacular views over the ocean, the ruins and the garden, which is vibrant with the colour and scent of frangipani, hibiscus and oleander. The furnishings are in Zanzibar style, fit for a Sultan! All of the rooms are air-conditioned, with ceiling fans. All have verandas except for the Frangipani Suite, No 4, which has a bigger main bedroom instead.
Facilities and Services
The pool lies just above the beach, with its beautiful swaying mangrove trees_ this is a perfect place to watch the sun go down. You can canoe or swim along the shore or in the pool. You can take a dhow trip from the beach, to the sandbanks opposite, or even into Stone Town.
The Raintree Restaurant is set on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean and offers delicious combinations of International and Zanzibari food. Provide a full English breakfast prepared before your eyes, combined with a buffet of island fruits, yoghurt and cereals, freshly-squeezed fruit juices and a selection of herbal teas. For lunch, guests can sample one of our specially prepared salads or explore the extensive menu. Our chefs use fresh market produce and seafood specialities from the Indian Ocean.
There are so many things to do at Mbweni. The advantage of being on the beach but close to the Stone Town, is that you can take any of Zanzibar's exciting trips from here and return to peace and tranquillity in the evening.ou can swim or snorkel from our beach or in the clear blue pool. From Mbweni itself we also organise our own trips: to the sandbanks opposite the hotel, where you can swim and snorkel on pristine beaches. ur staff will set up a shade and prepare a delicious barbecue lunch. We have a nature trail around the grounds or you can go canoeing in the mangrove glades just to the south.
