Originally designed by the internationally acclaimed Sri Lankan architect, Geoffrey Bawa, the hotel’s architecture combines pure lines with classical grace and an unmatchable view from the wide, spacious lobby area. The blue waters of the handsomely-proportioned pool meets the even bluer waters of the beautiful ocean beyond, so that as far as the eye can see, there is a shimmering, glittering, dancing sheet of water, reflecting the sunlight and the changing moods of the sky. Commencing May 2005, the Heritance Ahungalla will undergo an extensive refurbishment plan for a period of six months, to further equip the hotel to live up to the traditions and foundations upon which it was built.
