The Table Bay hotel is only 20 minutes by road by Cape Town International Airport and five minutes from the centre of the city. Right on the doorstep are the city's prime retail outlets in the V & A waterfront, stocking a huge variety of goods and offering many leisure opportunities. A mark of popularity of the Waterfront is the 16 million visitors to the centre every year.

The Table Bay Hotel is magnificent, straddling the antique breakwater with a style that is both innovative and entirely in keeping with its surroundings. It is a contemporary architectural treasure, capturing the essence of the enchanting Cape, Victorian elegance combines with contemporary charm.

Accommodation

The Table Bay Hotel has a total of 329 rooms which include standard twin rooms, standard king rooms, paraplegic rooms, luxury rooms and suites. There are 13 standard suites, 2 Executive Suites, 1 Superior Suite and 2 Presidential suites. The designer decorated rooms are welcoming and inviting, representing the epitome of luxury and supreme comfort. All rooms have spectacular views of both Table Mountain and the harbour or the Atlantic Ocean and Robben Island.

The rooms all feature luxurious walk-in cupboards and marble finishes, armoires and writing desks and each is equipped with a butler station, colour satellite television, radio, en-suite bathrooms with separate showers, marble vanity units with hairdryer and Mediterranean-style bathrobes and slippers.

Telephones are provided in bathrooms, at bedsides and on each writing desk. Each has a voice-mail facility and a wake-up call facility. Biz-Comm centres are provided in all rooms, allowing users to phone, fax, e-mail, copy, print and store messages, on a private number, accessible only to the individual guest, ensuring confidentiality. The centre also has ports to allow connection of lap top computers.

The hotel has committed itself to the Tobacco Products Control Amendment Act to protect the rights of non-smokers and children. There are 41 non-smoking rooms in the hotel, situated on the East and Centre wings of the 2nd floor only.

Restaurant

The Atlantic Restaurant ~ Decorated in a Cape Winelands theme with large murals and thick-pile carpets, this refined restaurant overlooks Table Mountain and the harbour and is supplemented by an al fresco terrace serving light meals and drinks. The restaurant serves buffet style breakfast, ala carte lunch and dinner specialising in South African and Asian cuisine. The selection changes frequently. Incorporated in the restaurant is the private, ten-seater Captains Table, overlooking the V&A harbour and is available for use by corporations who regularly entertain small groups of clients and associates.

The Conservatory ~ Intimate style and refreshing food, wine and ambience to saturate the senses. The Conservatory offers relaxed fire dining with chic cuisine. Combinations of food and wine of varied portion sizes.

The Lounge ~ The lounge with its roaring log fires in winter is an ideal escape and serves tea, coffee, light snacks and drinks. A speciality of the lounge is High Tea, served daily.

The Union Bar ~ The bar is a favourite gathering place for business people during the day. After hours it sparkles with cocktails and conversation.

The Pool Bar ~ serves drinks, snacks and health food on the deck around the pool which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean.

Facilities and Services

SPORTS & RECREATION FACILITIES: The Table Bay offers a tranquil retreat away from the hectic pulse of the surrounding Waterfront and Cape Town's many hedonistic pleasures. The sporting facilities provided are purely for enjoyment and relaxation purposes. More strenuous and diverting sporting facilities are located outside of the hotel. The Concierge will accommodate all requests.

Pool Area ~ The salt-water pool is heated to a constant temperature of 22 degrees and is surrounded by a mahogany pool deck with chaises longues. Guests can also relax in the Jacuzzi or have a professional poolside massage. Drinks and light meals may be served from the pool bar.

Gymnasium ~ Floor to ceiling glass encloses the boutique gym, which offers both cardio-vascular equipment and weights. For individual fitness programmes, professional trainers, dieticians and corporate lifestyle consultants are available.

Health Spa ~ The Health Spa has a spectacular view of Robben Island and is equipped with steam and therapy rooms and offers a range of fragrant aromatherapy massages and holistic treatments to stimulate muscle therapy and relax stressed guests. There are 5 treatment rooms and two specialised rooms for the Vichy Shower and Aromatherapy tub.

CONFERENCE FACILITIES: The conference facilities are flexible enough to allow for most kinds of functions and comprise the following venues : Ballroom, The Pavilion, Boardroom And International Business Centre.
