The hotel California is a small and friendly 'sports hotel' catering mainly for people who are participating in a some kind of sport, be it scuba-diving, paragliding, hang gliding, mountain biking, on holiday, on their own, or with partners, friends or family. It also caters for people who simply like the idea of a small, cosy hotel where they are made to feel welcome and 'at home' as opposed to large touristic establishments.

Situated on the Málaga road just as you leave Almuñécar and head for La Herradura, it is easy to find (see map), has ample parking and offers some stunning views over the white village of Almuñécar to the sea. Ideal as a base, it is only 5 minutes from the Dive Centre in Marina del Este, on the doorstep of some of the best Paragliding sites on this coast, five minutes from the town of Almuñécar, and only an hour and a half from the "Sierra Nevada" ski resort.

It is stylishly decorated in Andalusian-Moorish style. An attractive rustic bar, lounge, dining room and terrace all offer superb views and a relaxing and tranquil atmosphere. A buffet breakfast is served every morning and the bar opens every evening offering an interesting variety of meals, catering also for vegetarians. We do a barbecue once a week on the terrace.

Accommodation

The rooms are spacious with a balcony, bathroom, warm terracotta-tiled floors, mosquito nets and firm beds. The balconies are south facing with a great view over the village to the sea.
